Our origins began over 80 years ago in the heart of Birmingham city centre. The company was formed to supply patterns, moulds, and models to the automotive industry. With a highly skilled workforce, Elkington’s executed designs in wood, metal, plastics and other materials of the exact model to be cast. Working directly with companies like the Ford Motor Company and Rover, we supplied full size, models, castings and tooling for various car parts including exterior body panels, headliners, seat foams, steering wheels, and gear knobs.
The company naturally progressed over the years adapting with advancing technology but still retaining the core skills which were the foundation of the business, this coupled with a committed investment strategy ensured the company’s continued success.
Today, the company offers the complete suit of engineering skills, from CAD design to CAM programming, CNC 3-axis and 5-axis machining with a capacity of 3500mm x 1200m x 1000mm and a capability of producing tooling up to a weight of around 25 tonnes and size of 3.5m cubed. Final processes include assembly, benching, polishing, and a computerised co-ordinated inspection facility.
We have been fortunate to work for some of the largest OMEs in the automotive industry, in the capacity as a 1st and 2nd tier supplier. We work closely with each customer to ensure quality tooling is delivered accurate and on time.
We very much look forward to working with our customers in the future and welcome the opportunities new challenges in the industry bring to Elkington Brothers.
